If you are older than 25 with an Instagram or Pinterest account, chances are you’ve seen a Charcuterie Board during your daily scroll. Charcuterie boards are full of delicious goodness that leave your taste buds craving a variety board daily.

This week at Savvy Wool we enlisted the Charcuterie board enthusiast, Amanda – owner of “CharCUTErie By Amanda” in Virginia Beach, VA to give us all a few tips on how to help you #staysavvy while you create your perfect board:
- Tip 1: Have a variety of meat and cheese. Providing mild cheese and meat flavors are always a safe bet, but make sure to include at least one bold meat and cheese flavor for some added palate development.
- Tip 2: Add seasonal fruit/nuts/seeds. These elements will add a sweetness to the salty mix and pair really well with all meat/cheese/crackers on the board. Any nut mix will compliment the fruit of your choice (raspberry, strawberry, blackberries).
- Tip 3: MOST IMPORTANTLY: The CHEESE. When adding cheese to your board, make sure to cover all the bases on flavor and consistency. Cover your Soft (ex. brie, goat, feta), Firm (cheddar, gouda) and Blue (gorgonzola, stilton [Amanda’s favorite]).
- Tip 4. Create a sweet and sour element. Do this by adding jam, honey, pickled veggies, olives or spicy mustards. All of these items will compliment the meat and cheese.
- Tip 5. Lastly: Add a little fun. Sweetness always adds a perfect finishing touch. A few ideas: truffles, brownie brittle, themes cookies, cashew crunch, etc.
When creating your board, remember to add 3-4 slices/pieces per person to have enough for all guests! Charcuterie boards are perfect for all occasions! See Valentines Day and Superbowl Ideas below:
